When I first discovered photography at art college in the early 1980’s, I was hooked. It’s still my passion today and though the technology has changed radically, the principles behind creating a great image remain exactly the same.
Since those art college days I’ve spent the whole of my career working in the creative industry. These years of experience have allowed me to develop a great feel for light and lighting technique. It’s also given me time to develop considerable expertise in the digital photography process, allowing me the opportunity to squeeze every last drop of quality from an image.
I’m extremely versatile in what I shoot. I work on a wide range of still life, from jewellery to food, where my eye for detail, lighting and composition help me create elegantly beautiful images. I also love to photograph people, where I work quickly and without fuss, putting subjects at their ease and engaging with them so that things happen on set. No one ever gets bored in front of my camera!
My studio is a relaxed and easy place to spend the day and the people I work alongside - assistants, stylists, set builders, etc - are similarly relaxed and easy-going. You’d like them.
Over the years, I’ve worked across the world from Boston to Kuala Lumpur, as well as all over the UK and Europe, shooting for a fantastic range of clients from international corporations such as Johnson & Johnson, through to more local companies such as the Principality Building Society.
I’m sure that this variety has helped me to remain as passionate about photography as I was when I started out. Every day is different and every day is a new challenge.
Bring it on.
